PRESS ADVISORY For Immediate Release November 30, 2016

Today, From the Block 2 the Boardroom (FTB2TB), announced that it has joined with the Obama Administration and companies from across the American economy as a founding partner for the launch of the Fair Chance Business Pledge.  This pledge represents a call-to-action for all members of the private sector to improve their communities by eliminating barriers for those with a criminal record and create a pathway for a second chance.   THE FAIR CHANCE BUSINESS PLEDGE  FTB2TB applauds the growing number of public and private sector organizations nationwide who are taking action to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed, including individuals who have had contact with the criminal justice system. When almost 70 million Americans – nearly one in three adults – have a criminal record, it is important to remove unnecessary barriers that may prevent these individuals from gaining access to employment, training, education and other basic tools required for success in life. We are committed to providing individuals with criminal records, including formerly incarcerated individuals, a fair chance to participate in the American economy.

Tracey D. Syphax, has spent his 20 year career in business as a strong advocate for criminal justice reform and a trailblazer in reentry teaching entrepreneurship skills to create economic opportunities for Returning Citizens and make our communities safer. Mr. Syphax believes that every citizen in America deserves a second chance in life, as he has experienced firsthand after his release from prison in 1993, with a trade in roofing and later becoming a successful entrepreneur managing multimillion dollar businesses in the State of NJ. Through his life struggles, obstacles, triumphs, and challenges he encountered with the criminal justice system, he became inspired to empower his fellow returning citizens to start their own businesses from his memoir, “From the Block two the Boardroom.” Chapter 8 highlights his blueprint leading to his success as a business owner and community activist.
“In America you have a right to free speech and a right to remain silent.  In response to injustice and inequality the latter is not an option,” Tracey D. Syphax.
